Wow, it's been almost a month since I last posted......crazy how time goes by. Braydon and Garrett are back in school. Ashley started at Utah State and Jess is at SUU. Both are loving college life with all it's ups and downs....and are adjusting well. Janessa is home for a while and is planning to start at Weber the first of the year. Jackson and Weston are growing and changing daily. Weston is 2 1/2 and Jax will be a year old in 2 weeks. :)

We never know the impact someone has on our lives until they are gone. We never know what impact we have on the lives of others. Not, just our families.......but people that we might come in contact with even for just a small moment.

If we would all realize that we are all here for the same reason ....... and we are ultimately all trying to get to the same place. We should be helping eachother along on our individual journeys. It's not a race ...... you don't get a prize for getting their first, especially if you have stepped on others as you went.

It's sad ....... we are missing so many opportunities for service and blessings and just having people touch our lives, or missing the opportunity to touch theirs.

Tonight was so fun !! The slide presentation was so neat. And yes ....... I might have teared up a little (big shock I know). I remember so many of those kids when they were small ...... it's amazing that they are all ready to head out into the world......they are their very own individuals. Tonight is the true test ...... Graduation ...... Do they make a box of kleenex that big??? I promise to TRY to remember my camera tonight (I don't know why I own one?? I always forget it.)

Well, the girls are officially done with High School. Yesterday was the Senior's last day. Today they are headed to Lagoon for their Senior Sneak. Tuesday is Seminary graduation, Wednesday is the Senior Banquet, and Thursday is Graduation (sniff, sniff ) and the All Night Party.

Last night they held a banquet for the track team and parents. It was alot of fun. They had a video presentation and awards. Ash and Jess lettered again this year. And they both received certificates and pictures. The Seniors were honored and the State kids were honored. Jess got MVP for track and got a trophy.

I am so proud of my girls. They worked so hard !! It was a little sad knowing that that was the last track awards banquet I will ever go to for them. But they are all 3 so ready to move ahead !! I am excited for them ..... they have so many opportunities awaiting them.

I cannot believe that there is only a litte over 3 weeks until graduation. The girls (and any other senior) can tell you exactly how many days are left. (I will be getting graduation announcements sent out as soon as I can get some envelopes.) It's so weird ...... I can remember like it was yesterday when the girls were little ....... when they needed us for everything .... when we are the most awesome (smartest) people they knew (OK so they outgrew THAT thinking fast - lol).

I am so excited for them. They have the whole world in front of them....so much opportunity. But at the same time, I am sad. It's harder than you can imagine, moving into that next stage of parenting ..... parenting adult children. I still want to protect them ....... from every heartbreak, disappointment .... to be able to calm their fears ..... to fix the hurts for them ....... but they do have to go out into the world (like most of us do) and "scrape their knees" and learn how to fix their own "hurts" ..... and all I can do is PRAY (everyday) and advise when they will let me that they are protected and watched over.

I love you 3 so very much. You are my babies ........ So please be patient with me while we all transition through this exciting time.

I am still here ... cheering you on ... loving you ... praying for you .... Always

Today we are going to Jackson, WY for the day. We go every year with Janet and Jeremiah Mattson to celebrate Janet and my birthdays (Hers is the day after mine). And amazingly enough it coincides with the Snowmobile Hill Climbs (Imagine that). So we drop the guys off at the Hill Climbs and then Janet and I wander around downtown Jackson looking at stuff that people only DREAM of affording, but it's fun. Then we pick Tony and Jeremiah up (they call us when they are done looking at the new snowmobiles) and then we go to dinner. The last couple of years we have gone to dinner at the Gun Barrel. It's an awesome place to eat. So THAT is the extent of our day out :)

OH and the boys got home from their trip last night. Al and Laurie Harrison (grandpa and grandma) took them, their cousin, Justin and their aunt Olivia to Disney Land and California Adventures (THE BRAVE SOULS). They had so much fun and had lots of stories to tell. THANKS AL AND LAURIE for spending time with the boys :)

Okay, it's Day 2 of my Spring Break vacation - "THANKS DR W and DR T for the time off"
They closed the office for 3 days so we could have Spring Break too ..... I have 1 more day off and then we are back at it on Thursday. Haven't done to much with my time off ... housework, laundry, helping Mandi get settled in their new house, stuff like that. In a little while I am off to run an errand for Tony, workout and tan. Ash, came in to this world at 2# 2oz., the oldest of the girls. She was the sweetest little thing. Tiny but tough, like her sisters. You don't know what strong is until you spend time in a NICU and see the courage and the fight in all those tiny preemies. I remember being in awe of their strength as they fought, not only to grow, but even to live. Ashley discovered her love of dancing when she was going to school at Rich. She was a star member of their drill team. Then, when she came back to Bear Lake she lit up the floor (or field depending on where they were dancing) as a Lakette. Ash, is such a joy to watch. She is so beautiful and so graceful. Ashley also, is a member of the track and cross country teams. She does so well. (Although her interest has more to do with a certain Dory Alleman, I think) (love ya Ash - lol) Ashley will be going off to Utah State in the Fall, where she plans to try-out for their dance team next spring. I will miss her, but am SO proud of all she has accomplished.

Jessica was born, all 2# 11oz of her, along with her sisters, on November 29, 1990. Jess started out her life with a heart surgery, she bears the scar from that surgery to this day, and it is a great badge of honor. Jess was always so funny and I love to look at her and her sisters pictures of when they were little. Jess was so giggly :) She found her nitch almost 2 years ago when she discovered her love of running. She has taken that and turned it into a talent. Jess' talent and drive got her a scholarship to SUU, in Cedar City, UT. She is so amazing and beautiful and strong. I am so proud of her. We'll always be here, Jess....loving you and cheering you on.

Janessa started out at 1# 7 oz, the youngest of the 3 by about 5 min. She was the tiniest little thing. But right from the start I knew she had spirit and was a fighter. She was the strongest and got to come home with her sisters when she was a little under 4 lbs. I look at her now and can't believe that more than 18 years have gone by......WOW !! She is so beautiful and strong and kind and brave. She has more strength than I ever did. I am SO blessed and so grateful to be her mom. She just received her acceptance letter from Weber State :) She is also planning to apply to a couple of other schools. I am so proud of her.

OK .... this week is Braydon's turn to be hilighted. Braydon is almost 12 years old. He was 4 when Tony and I started seeing eachother. I have watched as he's grown up. I am always amazed at Braydon's ability to figure out how things work.....how to take it apart and put it back together. He loves to learn about everything and can tell you all about it after reading it or seeing it just once. Braydon wants to play basketball in 7th grade and practices all the time at the basketball hoop out back so he can meet his goal. Braydon is happiest playing video games and improving his level or score. Sometimes we have to remind him to go outside and play and get some fresh air. He loves to build things and has gone through rolls and rolls of tape working on a project. He makes us so proud and I am looking forward to seeing all that he will accomplish as he gets older. We love you, Braydon.

Ok, I am going to try to highlight a kid a week. I am going to start with Garrett. Garrett is having a hard time right now. He is dealing with some bullying at school and some other things that are causing him to act out a little. But, I have to say, he is such a good kid, with a heart as big as anything. I am SO proud to be able to say that I am his step-mom. He is worth so much and valued as a member of our family !! He is such a hard worker !! And sometimes even though he might grumble a little he is so good to help me when I ask. Garrett, I want you to know how loved you are by your dad and I, and ALL your brothers and sisters and your little nephews :)

Update Finally

OK ...... it was SO fun to watch Jess run yesterday. I am amazed by her and all the athletes that competed in the Simplot Games. There were 1800 High School Athletes from all over the country and Canada that came to compete.

In the preliminaries there were 117 girls that ran; Jess was in the 4th heat and had to wait until all the heats (8) were run to find out whether she would advance to the finals on Saturday. And, as you saw in the last post that she finished in the top 36 (she finished 33rd) with a time of 5:38:02.

On Saturday she ran in the first of the 3 heats. She came in 3rd and improved her time 5:30:33. When it was all said and done she came in 23rd out of the top 36. I was so proud of her. She looked so good !!

Jess ran last night in the preliminaries at the Simplot Games in Pocatello. She qualified for the finals in the 1600 m. on Saturday !! AND she got a PR (Personal Record). 5:38:02 !!!

1.Where did you meet? We have known eachother forever. But we finally hooked up for real when he followed me to the grocery store to talk to me.

2. How long did you date before you got married? We were together for a year before we got married.

3.Where did he propose? He proposed at the mall. (I know it sounds gay, but it was actually the sweetest thing and a very special memory for me)

4. Where did you get married? We got married in Dingle on January 26, 2002 and then sealed in the Logan temple last year (Sept. 21, 2007)

As you can see we have 15 DAYS TO NASCAR .... woohoo. Okay, I saw that eye roll. You've gotta experience it for real ...... at least once. What a rush.

I am excited mostly just for the getaway. I am ready for a few days to relax. When we are in Vegas I am going to the BODY EXHIBITION. It is at the Luxor ..... don't freak out. It's nothing naughty :) It's like Body Worlds 3 that was in Salt Lake. All the bodies (donated cadavers) you get to see all kinds of neat stuff. I am so excited !!! (I know I am weird - but we just go with it). YOu get to see where everything is and ....... well I will attach a link so you can see for yourself if you never saw the ads for the expo when they were in SLC. http://clk.about.com/?

AND I am still working out. At least 3 days a week,, if not 5. The results are coming ..... Although not fast enough - lol - I am an instant gratification type girl. Busy Weekend

It was such a busy, fun weekend. I survived Give Kids a Smile Day ... it was wild !! We were so busy and it didn't slow down for a second. We saw so many kids. Nate and Mandi and Jackson were here when I got home on Friday :) They came to visit for the weekend and go to Senior Night with us.

Friday night we went to the boys basketball game - it was senior night for the boys basketball team, the Cheerleaders, the Band and the Lakettes. The game was so awesome. The boys won in the last 3 seconds. At half-time the Senior Lakettes were honored. And as usual, I forgot my camera. :( It was so neat to be up there with Ashley. I am so proud of her. We will have one more senior night at the end of the track season......it's kind of sad to think about....my babies are almost all grown up.

Then today we went to dad and Jane's and had a birthday dinner for Jane. (Her birthday was the 4th) It was so fun to be there with everyone. (Troy and Kristie and their kids, Jared, Adam, Hannah and Zach. Mike and Terie and their kids James, Lindsay and Lucas. Ryan and Brenda. MY brother, Jarrod and All my kids were there.) Aaron and Afton and Weston had come down this weekend to look for a house. They are planning to move back. It will be so nice to have them closer again.

Give Kids a Smile Day

It's wednesday, half way through my 5 day week. We usually work 4 days.

On Friday we are donating our time for Give Kids a Smile Day. It's something our office does annually (The first Friday in February - it's a national program). We donate our entire day and all the dental work we do to kids who don't have dental insurance. These are the ones that are kind of "in-between", they don't qualify for medicaid but for whatever reason their parent's employers don't offer dental insurance or are self-employed or whatever. We have ALOT of interest and we don't start taking appointments for Smile Day until January 1. And you ought to see our schedule .. it's CrAzY. IT will be a wild day. But it always makes us feel so good to be able to give back to the community. People are so sppreciative. It's kind of neat to have the opportunity to be part of something like this. (Remind me of this when I drag myself home Friday afternoon after such a busy day :) I will need a nap)

Working Out

I know I wrote in an earlier post that I was going to start going to the new exercise place that the hospital had opened. I have been going 4-5 days a week and working out for at least an hour. When I was there yesterday afternoon there was no one there but me. It was awesome. It is getting a little easier each time I go. My stamina and endurance are building as my muscles start to respond. I do 20-30 minutes of cardio and then weights the rest of the time. I did make the mistake of weighing myself ..... I still am within the same 2-3 lb range that I started with. I need to take measurements instead of going by weight....how my clothes are fitting .... that sort of thing. I wanted to throw the scale through the window ! I am starting to see more definition in my muscles now. I am feeling stronger ... have more energy. Plus it's 1 hour a day of ME time. As women I think that ME time goes to the back of the line. Everyone else comes first as we forget to take care of ourselves.

Well, we are having our yearly January inversion. Complete with cold temps and FOG. We have been spoiled lately - it has been warm (January thaw). But we have to be reminded that winter is far from over. What I want to know is ..... where is this Global Warming ..... can we get some of it ?? This time last year we were buying swim suits and getting ready to go to Hawaii. It was so warm and nice there ..... I am ready to go BACK ...... Tony and I DO get to go to Vegas in 6 weeks so I am looking forward to that.

I just have a question ....... why is it that there are some people that, when they do something wrong, instead of stepping up and saying, "I messed up" they work really hard at laying the blame somewhere (Or on someone) else. And why is it that those that do the most judging of others get really upset when they THINK that someone is judging them. I just don't get it. I mean, I feel like pretty much everyone is just trying to go along do the best they can ....... Just trying to get up everyday and do a little better and be a little bit better person than they were the day before ....... WHY do some people find joy in making things harder for others. I mean ..... life is hard enough .... isn't it?

Wii 'ing

The Wii is too fun - It really is for the whole family and funner than any game system we have owned. The bowling and tennis are fun and quite a little work-out. I also got the Trauma Center "New Blood" Game. You get to do surgeries - it is TOO fun. I haven't set up the Wii fit yet. But plan to do that this week.....so I can workout on that when I can't get to town to the Fitness Center.

Dad and Jane

Yesterday, despite the weather and bad roads, we spent a very special day with my Dad and Jane. The ceremony was simple and short and beautiful. They are both so happy. Our family is so blessed to have Jane in it. She is so loving and has such a big heart. She hugged me and called me her sweet daughter. And I do feel like her daughter. I dearly love her and her kids. (Now I have 5 sisters and 2 more brothers). I love feeling a part of a big family.

The happy couple is off on a 5 day honeymoon to who knows where. They didn't even go to dinner with us all. They wanted to just be with eachother. :)

Dora Jo took a few pictures. It was SO cold standing outside the temple that we decided we would take more later ..... in the summer ..... when it's warmer. And, of course, I forgot my camera so I will have to get pictures later.

Braydon and Garrett were considerate enough to let us sleep in a little. I woke up about 7:00 and found them sleeping on the couch......I kind of suspect that they had been up most of the night. All their presents from under the tree had been sorted. But other than that they showed great restraint, considering the fact that Santa had brought us a Wii and Wii Fit.

4 more days until Christmas !! And it's a short work week. wOoHoO ~ I just wish we had Christmas Eve day off ....... Hopefully the 24th will be a pretty straight forward day....with no dental surprises.

I go tomorrow afternoon for "orientation" so I can start going to the Hospital's Fitness Center. The Dentist Office arranged for us to have a year free. I am excited to start working out. Ican't believe that it's Christmas already......2008 is almost over. I am not going to call working out a resolution because I have a hideous habit of never keeping those. lol

We are excited for Saturday too. It's Jane and Dad's big day :) I will try to get some pictures to post.

New Meds

Mandi's Dr has started her on a new anti-seizure med - KEPPRA. Her insurance will pay better for that. DON'T get me started about insurances - they think they know better than Dr.'s what is better for their patients. Mandi's insurance would only pay a small portion of the TRILEPTAL because there is a generic available.....never mind that the generic causes breakthrough seizures ...... makes as much sense as anything else the insurance co. does. Wonder how many years THEY went to medical school???!!! It drives me crazy.

Anyway......hopefully the Keppra will be able to control the seizures without alot of the side effects.

WhEwW ......... tomorrow is MY Friday. If I can make it through tomorrow then I will have 3 days off. wOoHoO.

Tomorrow we have our "staff feed" at work. Usually we have it the last day we work before our Christmas break. But we decided to do it tomorrow instead. Everyone brings something to eat and then we just "graze" throughout the day. And then tomorrow night is our EMT Christmas party ...... prime rib ...... yum. They usually feed us pretty well.

Other than that nothing special is going on. 1 week until Christmas eve. WOW - we have a little snow - but mostly it's just really cold .... I hate the cold .....

Mandi saw her new Dr. today and they have put her back on the Trileptal (Brand) instead of the generic. She has also been scheduled for a new EEG test for Monday. Hopefully being back on the original meds and not the generic will help. I have been reading studies and they have shown that the generic brands of some anti-seizure meds can cause break-through seizures.

Hopefully we will be back on top of things soon.

Cross Country Athlete of the Year

Jess just called. She has been named Idaho State Journal, Cross Country Athlete of the Year.

There will be a ceremony Monday night in Pocatello. I am not sure of the details yet but I'm sure there will be an article in the paper sometime next week. She said that they said something about a red carpet and a limo. She is so excited !! I can't wait to see the paper. I will kep everyone updated on the details as I find out.

Thanks goodness, it's almost Friday. What a week ...... it's been indescribably weird. And I am SO tired......I feel like I could go to bed right now and sleep straight through.

It's when I start to feel sorry for myself that I see the struggles of others. And then I feel so guilty.

I have a very good friend that is struggling with some things right now, physically and emotionally. And there is nothing that I can do to make things better or easier for her......except pray that she might find peace and that she might be able to be healthy again. I wish it was more.

I know that we are given the struggles and trials that we might grow and learn to be more understanding and empathetic to the struggles of others.

Anyway - I hope everyone has a great Friday and a great weekend. Mandi goes to see her new neurologist tomorrow to see why she is having "break-through seizures" even though she has been on meds. We are hoping for some positive news there.

Prelimary Results

Ok....we got a text from Jess right after the race. She said that she got 10th. She said that she didn't run as fast she felt she could have because her shoe laces were untied for the whole race. I asked her "Now do you know why I always told you to double tie your shoes?"

She was very happy with her performance though, which is what's most important. She said that it was a tough course with 3 steep hills. Her time, she thought, was 20:19. She wasn't sure how Dory had done yet, though.

She is having lots of fun, though. They will be home tomorrow so we will know more then.

Jess and Dory Alleman and other runners from Idaho are on their way to California to run in the Footlocker Regional Championships.

They left yesterday and were going as far as Las Vegas and then continuing on to Walnut, California, this morning. Walnut is South West of L.A. They run tomorrow so I will be waiting for a phone call from Jess sometime tomorrow afternoon or evening. They will start home tomorrow night and then stay in Vegas and then return home on Sunday.

She was so excited to go and I am excitied to hear how she did - her time should be awesome.

I CANNOT believe that it's almost Christmas. We do have almost all of our Christmas shopping done. Just a few more things to finish up. I will be putting the tree up today and decorating a little bit.

We had a great time last night at dinner with Dad and Jane. There was Tony and I, Terie and Mike, Kristie and Troy, and Mike and his wife (I can't think of her name - I KNOW I know it - DoraJo, I think). It was really fun to get to spend some time with them.

For those of you who may not know; my dad has been dating Jane Messerly. They have known eachother for years. She and her late husband were good friends to my mom and dad. I have known her and loved her and her family for a long time. Now Jane and my dad have decided to make things official. And I have to say, I couldn't be happier. They are planning a wedding for right after Christmas. It is so great to see my dad smile and know that he has someone wonderful again. Jane, you have been my great friend for a long time and now I am so happy that you will be part of our family.

We had Mandi (and Jackson's) baby shower tonight. It was so fun. She got some very cute stuff. Quite a few people were able to come and meet Jackson and visit. It was nice. We went to watch Ashley dance at half-time last night. She was SO awesome. It always chokes me up a little when I watch her dance. I am SO proud.

Last night we had the opportunity to go with Braydon to his Priesthood Preview. He will be 12 in March and will be a deacon. It was so neat and a little sad to think that he is already that old. He was only 3 1/2 when I started seeing his dad. Time goes by way too fast. Tony got to speak - he did such a great job, I was so proud of him. He really hates to speak in front of a group of people. lol

I just got the results from the race in Boise: (Keep in mind there are 6 states being represented and 133 girls in this race alone (Girls Open).

ALL of their times were so good !! I am so proud of our girls !!! (Especially my 3 - WOW)

They will take the top 5 girls to Nationals in Portland (We will have to see what happens - they still have 1 more girls race) so it will all depend on times....not places.

I'm not sure how the boys did - that hasn't been posted yet.

I am consistently amazed by the group of kids on our Cross Country Team. They are such a great group and so supportive of eachother. They do us all proud on AND off the course.
